passion.

it seems to me that too many people in the world just aren't passionate.  apathy has taken over our culture and we just don't care anymore.  i think the cure for apathy, the cure for seeing hardship on the news and finishing eating dinner without a care in the world (see hotel rwanda), is indeed passion.

what am i passionate about?  i love to write.  sometimes, i can't say what i feel, but i can write it in a way that maybe only i understand...but for me, that's good enough.  i'm passionate about places, and a huge part of my heart is forever in the northeast...in the trains, the ghettos, the coffee shops, the cold, and the conversations that are slowly changing people there.  i'm passionate about relationships and truly believe that over cups of coffee and conversations and supper and resting and being silent and simply enjoying one another people grow to be friends, and family, and fill unexpected places in the heart.  i'm passionate about a good book, because i believe that words change lives--for better and for worse.  i'm passionate about serving and pouring myself out over and over, even when it's hard.

so what's your passion? what keeps you going, and caring, and convinced that you can change the world?
